After celebrating his 54th birthday with us just a couple weeks ago, my father, Jose Delossantos, unexpectedly passed away this last Saturday.

Over the last couple years, my father was thrown challenge after challenge, spending much of his time at long appointments, doing physical therapy, or hooked up to a slew of machines in a hospital. Despite all of that, he wanted to make the most of his life every second in between. He wanted everyone to know his story, and that not only included the part when he was in a helicopter being med-flighted into Boston, but the part where he quite literally blindly set up his DJ system in his bedroom. Never did he loose who he truly was.

My father’s last weeks were spent at nursing facility in Tewksbury where he was being treated and getting PT post-surgery. On Thursday afternoon, he fell into cardiac arrest and was then transported to Lowell General Hospital. Even with his heart was beating, he never woke up, and passed in my arms on Saturday night.

Though his time was cut short, we are forever grateful and so fortunate to have been able to spend all this time with him. Our goal now is to memorialize him in the way he deserves. In his words, “I am not leaving my baby girl,” and we will be “stuck with” him forever!
