One of our former Park City Elementary School students, 17 year old Barren County High School junior, Roberto Campos Jr, tragically lost his life in a vehicle accident on November 6th, 2020.  Roberto’s younger sister, Park City Elementary 6th grade student, Selena Campos, was a passenger in the vehicle. She survived but was hospitalized due to a broken femur and fractured spine, thankfully, she is expected to make a full recovery.  With a kind heart and sweet smile, Roberto overcame many obstacles.  He was going to school, working at Wal-mart, and had a future story to have a better life for himself, his parents, and his 5 siblings. A few days before he passed he said to me, “Mrs. Carey you would be proud of all of your old Park City boys. We are all still in school and working hard. I am saving my money so I can buy myself a car and get a new house for my family. I am going to finish high school and make something of myself.  I am doing good, Mrs. Carey.”   This precious, kind, hard-working family needs our help in giving Jr. the proper funeral, burial, and tombstone. Brooks Funeral Home gave me an estimate of $10,000 to cover all expenses. However, any money left over after paying for death expenses, will go to the family to help with Selena’s medical expenses and any immediate needs for the family.  Any help you can provide will be appreciated and we pray God blesses you 100 fold for your giving. This family also needs your prayers as they face the difficult days ahead. Thank you to Wendy’s cousin, Denise Brooks, and my fellow co-workers, foe helping me head this up. I learned that I cannot make the funeral home the beneficiary.  Since Denise is family, I am making her the beneficiary of the account so that she can pay the funeral expenses.  Then we will work with the family on using the funds for a ramp for Selena, lost wages, medical expenses, and repairs on their current home.
