Christian Rodriguez was 'dad' or 'uncle' to every kid in the San Leandro area's schools. Kids knew him from reading days in classrooms, charity events, school events, SLED events and just seeing him in the halls of our schools. He supported the schools by dedicating even more of himself as a SLED board member then a school board trustee. This community was his 4th child. Christian was pure joy.
Christian was a man who loved his wife with passion, his kids with his entire being. Building a better community was his mission. Christian loved the holidays, decorating for Halloween, Christmas. His children were his heart, chess, karate, hiking and just adventuring, he was never far away from them.
This tragic accident has left a hole in their world, and for many in San Leandro, a void. Now more than ever we can repay the relentless love Christian served our community with by providing support while Marina and her kids mourn, figure out their next steps, and learn to live with the ache and loss.
We are asking for donations to support Christian's memorial and funeral, and immediate expenses during the holiday season, as the family and Marina pick up the pieces. Any additional funds will be put in a college fund for Valentina, Christian Jr. and Carlos to continue to support their education, as Christian’s passion was helping learning thrive in our community, giving this gift to his children is priority.
A meal train has been started for the family through the holiday, and beyond, to lift the burden from Marina so she can focus on surviving this tragic, horrific loss https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/80r845/donate
