This is one of the hardest things I’ve had to write down…
My sister, Natalie Emerson, who has struggled with many different kinds of addictions for over 20 years of her life…has finally succumbed to drug addiction.
Natalie passed away on her couch alone in her apartment sometime between 8/6/2023pm -8/7/2023pm.
My sister had worked very hard and graduated drug court and we were so incredibly proud of her! She went on the be sober for the next two years. Unfortunately, her struggle with cravings started getting the better of her. She had a small slip up and couldn’t stand herself for it. She felt like she had ruined everything and let everyone down. She very quickly deteriorated resulting in a full relapse.
My sister was deeply tormented by demons of addiction. She so desperately wanted to be a good Christian, mother, daughter, and sister.
She had a beautiful heart and compassion for others that were suffering. She gave to the homeless, ministered to other addicts, spoke of Gods salvation and mercy whenever she could. She often left large tips for minimum wage employees because she knew how hard it was working thankless jobs like that.
Natalie would give you the shirt off her back without a second thought.
She was a beautiful soul.
Natalie leaves behind her son, Michael (23) and her daughter, Jessica (11).
Michael is set to be married by the end of the year and will deeply miss his mother’s presence on one of the most important days of his life.
Michael and Jessica are now without a mother and father.
Anyone who knew my sister knows that she struggled with her many addictions for most of her life. She was able to make amends with her family and the people closest to her. She had a WONDERFUL heart. She had and shared one of the most powerful testimonies I’ve ever heard. She loved God and spoke so often of His mercy.. She shared her testimony as often as she could and gave God all the glory. She was 39…she wanted nothing more than to take care of her mother and family. She also had 2 cats, Jakyell and Hyde. She loved those cats. To say our family is crushed and shocked is not sufficient. We’re sick. My sister is gone and my mom and dad lost a second daughter. A parent’s worst nightmare lived all over again. Natalie was mentally ill and her struggles often pushed many people away. But her heart was good. And she strived to be good. She was tormented with these demons.
We want to keep her 2 kitties but aren’t prepared for those expenses . And we certainly cannot afford a funeral.
We will continue to trust God even in this horrific storm.
If God leads you to donate even if it’s just a small amount…any little bit will help tremendously. All funds will be transferred to my mothers (Terry Emerson) s account.
Thank you. And Praise God for freeing my sister. God be with you!
