Funeral Expenses - Sherry Chapman-Breedlove

Hello, my name is Tammy Raynes-Shafer .

To our dismay, the world lost another person to Oral Cancer on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. Sherry Chapman-Breedlove was first diagnosed with cancer in the spring of 2020. Finally, on December 3, 2020, Sherry had gathered the courage to undergo an excruciating painful surgery to remove the cancer from her tongue. The surgery would not only require the removal of her tongue but also the donation from other parts of her own body to create a prosthetic tongue . After surgery she was advised that it was stage 4 cancer that she was dealing with and due to its location, it was a very aggressive cancer. Radiation and chemo treatments was a must. Sherry completed those treatments, but the cancer was just unstoppable and continued to spread.

On January 7, 2022 she was transported to Ruby Memorial and an emergency surgery took place. While at Ruby she was advised that her cancer was no longer treatable. One week after entering Ruby Memorial, Sherry was transported home and was receiving Hospice Care. On the 15th of January, complications arose, and Sherry was taken to CAMC. She was not quite herself and it was apparent to me that she was nearing the end of her life. With her husband holding her left hand and me holding her right hand she took her final breaths of life.

As you can imagine treatment for cancer is a very expensive. You must rob Peter to pay Paul for months that seem to have no end. The price for everything has skyrocketed since Covid began and the costs to have a simple funeral service is no exception.

We want to give Sherry Chapman-Breedlove the memorial she deserves, to honor her memory and say our last goodbyes. Sherry is loved by many and is known to always give to others in need. She also put everyone else's needs before her own, even when she was so sick and other people should have been taking care of her.

I am currently asking for donations to help cover her funeral expenses. We need to raise $6,000 by Monday, January 31st, to cover her final expenses.
