UPDATE: Mike took his last breath at 11:18pm last night, Feb 7th.
On January 14, 2019, Mike was found unconscious in his apartment after being sick for a few days. He was rushed to the hospital unresponsive. When he finally came to, he didn't recognize any family that was by his bed side. After a day or so his memory slowly came back, but his condition was worsening. He has been in the Intensive Care Unit since he was admitted 3 weeks ago. The hospital has ran numerous test only to find out Mike has Hepatitis C, cirrhosis of the liver, kidney failure, along with numerous other medical issues. They are saying there is nothing else that can be done any longer and for our family to start making his final preparations. Michael "Mike" Colunga is a Vietnam Navy Veteran, who proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. So the VA will cover the burial, headstone, and gravesite, but will NOT cover the funeral service, casket, police escorts, obituary, or any other extra cost. He did not have any life insurance, so this is where our family needs your help. Unfortunately, this kind of circumstance cannot be avoided. So please find it in your heart to help us, The Colunga Family, with this very unexpected expense. There is no amount to small or big. Every dollar is GREATLY appreciated by us all. Thank you and God bless!
