The past year has been difficult for many of us, but it has been extremely difficult for my uncle, Manuel Villegas. Last February he suffered a heart attack at work. He was lucky to have survived it, but unfortunately that brought a whirlwind of illnesses. He was diagnosed with Miller Fisher Syndrome and then Al amyloidosis (cancer), both diseases that affect the body’s nervous system. Consequently, his vision was greatly affected, as well as his kidneys and heart. To top things off, he fractured his neck at the end of last year. Because of his health issues, he is unable to work and he was his family’s only source of income. My uncle is currently in critical condition. He underwent various rounds of chemotherapy but unfortunately they did not work as expected. There is an alternative treatment available that could save his life but unfortunately it is very expensive and his health insurance does not cover it.  This GoFundMe is created with the hope that we can get this alternative treatment for my uncle so that he has a chance at life. His wife, children, and extended family are not only left with emotional hurt, but also with the financial burden of many expensive hospital bills. I know many of us are struggling financially, but my family and I would greatly appreciate it if you found it in your heart to donate any amount to help relieve our family from these financial worries, and hopefully get him that alternative treatment. El año pasado ha sido difícil para muchos de nosotros, pero ha sido extremadamente difícil para mi tío Manuel Villegas. En febrero pasado sufrió un infarto en el trabajo. Tuvo suerte de haber sobrevivido, pero desafortunadamente eso le trajo un torbellino de enfermedades. Le diagnosticaron síndrome de Miller Fisher y luego amiloidosis Al (cancer), ambas enfermedades que afectan el sistema nervioso del cuerpo. En consecuencia, su visión se vio muy afectada, al igual que sus riñones y corazón. Para colmo, se fracturó el cuello a finales del año pasado. Debido a sus problemas de salud, no puede trabajar y era la única fuente de ingresos de su familia. Mi tío se encuentra actualmente en estado crítico. Se sometió a varias rondas de quimioterapia, pero desafortunadamente no funcionaron como se esperaba. Existe un tratamiento alternativo disponible que podría salvarle la vida, pero lamentablemente es muy caro y su seguro médico no lo cubre.  Este GoFundMe se creó con la esperanza de que podamos obtener este tratamiento alternativo para mi tío para que tenga una oportunidad en la vida. Su esposa, sus hijos y su familia extendida no solo quedan con un dolor emocional, sino también con la carga financiera de muchas facturas costosas del hospital.Sé que muchos de nosotros estamos luchando económicamente, pero mi familia y yo apreciaríamos mucho si encontrara en su corazón la posibilidad de donar cualquier cantidad para ayudar a aliviar a nuestra familia de estas preocupaciones financieras, y ojala poder obtenerle el tratamiento alternativo.
