Support for the Nygard Family

Surrounded by his dearest family & friends, late last night March 18th, Tim was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus - his body restored, healed & whole again. A couple weeks ago, Tim’s incredible boss at Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission, Steve Carr, wrote us a beautiful message about what he has learned about being cured vs. being healed. “Healing comes from being at peace with God. It comes from throwing yourself at the feet of Jesus & realizing that He is all that any of us needs. Tim has not been cured but he has been healed.” Yes, Tim is completely healed.

Through this last month at home, Tim had such beautiful moments & experiences with loved ones & he said it was exactly what he had wanted.  He was blessed with the most incredible care team - both of our families, along with our closest group of friends who helped me care for Tim in the most tender & dignified of ways. And not surprisingly, even in constant discomfort, he was the kindest, most appreciative & loving man - what a gift from him - even as he transitioned from this life, he graced us with peace & calm. Of course he did.  Naturally he had moments of fear & sadness, but he didn’t let those feelings consume his last month. Our Hospice nurse said she’s really never seen anything like it from someone so young… the serenity he showed was divine & powerful. Our Hospice team has also been such a wonderful group of help - the social worker, numerous doctors & especially our nurse, Tiffany, have provided us the most thorough, timely & loving care - we are so grateful for them.

So, with prayer, song, memories & endless tears, we watched Tim transition from his life here to life in heaven. It breaks our hearts & we wonder how we even begin to move forward… but we know his faith was strong, that God deeply loves him & that he is freed from his pain - all things that bring us bits of peace amidst this immense grief. I want to again thank this community for holding us so tightly these three years - what beauty you have shown us all.
