Funeral Expenses for Steven Fanella

Donation protected
My father is palliative care and preparing to go to heaven. Unfortunately we do not have the funds to have a funeral and bury him after he passes. There is no life insurance or pension to assist with his final expenses. My dad has been very ill for a long time. He suffered a heart attack at work and collapsed into a co-workers arms about 6 years ago. He was put into surgery and given a stent that was brand new on the market. Not long after the stent came loose and nicked his duodenum giving him blood poisoning. He was in and out of the hospital for months. His kidneys were in bad shape and he was diagnosed with stage 5 renal failure. He received dialysis 3 times per week for several hours for the past 2 years. Unfortunately dad was diagnosed with Calciphylaxis which is a rare cutaneous-systemic disease occurring in patients with advanced chronic kidney disease. It causes infections in the feet and legs. Dad had infections in both feet that were not responding to antibiotics and the only option was to amputate both feet. He had to wait for his feet to heal and then go through physical therapy to walk with a walker. He was in a wheel chair for 6 months because of the constant infections he was battling. He went in for additional surgeries to cut out the infections. Additional stents were added to increase the blood flow. For the past 2 years, my dad has been in and out of the hospital and has tried to think positively. His goal was to walk again which unfortunately was short lived. He was able to walk for less than a month with a walker. In the mean time he was diagnosed with calcification. The calcium has been building up in his body, reducing blood flow, and now it is shutting down his organs. The stents are failing. His legs have become infected due to the Calciphylaxis. The infection is antibiotic resistant so the only way to hold it at bay is to amputate. Due to my father’s weak heart and many other medical problems amputation is not a viable option. He is living out his remaining days in palliative care at the hospital since he would not survive an ambulatory transport home. If you are able to donate anything we would greatly appreciate your gift. I would like to be able to give my father a final resting place after all of the pain he has endured in the past 6 years. Thank you and God Bless.
