Funeral expenses for Steve Harvey
Donation protected
Steve Harvey passed away September 21st, 2022. He passed peacefully in his camp chair watching the sun come up on his island one last time to a sudden heart attack. Born on whidbey, its fitting that his story comes to its conclusion here as well.
Steve lived a life full of adventures, mistakes, heartache, and, in the end, a measure of peace. Those who knew Steve have their own stories, whereas I only became a bit player in his story near the end.
Steve was my father's little brother. I knew him only in passing growing up, but after my fathers passing he would often reach out with a story about growing up together or just some random detail about my dad that i always appreciated. When covid swept the country, Steve was traveling around the country in his little converted RV seeing the world. When it started getting bad, we both agreed it was probably safer for him to ride it out parked at my family's small farm. What started as just a pitstop turned into a long term stay, as Steve found a measure of peace and happiness here among our little family and the quiet of the farm.
Steve leaves his children Julia and Ben, sister Louise, and his brothers Don and John. He is preceeded in death by his parents Lillian and Vernon and his brothers Vern and Dale.
Steve served honorably in the US Army during the cold war in stations he could not talk about and only became declassified in the last decade. He was immensely proud of his service and his country.
Sadly, he never believed time would catch up to him. He would frequently joke that he intended to live to be a hundred. He seems to have believed that, as he left nothing by ways of preparation for his death. While his veterans status provides some funerary expenses, our family was unprepared for this moment and we are writing this in hopes that those who knew Steve will want to help in laying him to rest.
