Stephen Dwight Oakley passed away unexpectedly and went to be with his best friend Jesus, on February 19, 2021 in his home at the age of 51.


He is survived by his parents Harry and Jaynie Oakley of Celeste, TX, his children, son Jarred and wife Anease Oakley and grandchildren Kaden, Cheyenne, and Adaline Oakley of Greenville, TX, son Tyler Oakley and grandson Hunter of Commerce, TX, Austin Oakley and Aleigha Oakley of Commerce, TX. Sister Deana Gore and Brother-in-law Jeff Gore and nieces Adyson and Lexi, and nephew Jordan of Lone Oak, TX.
Steve was born on April 23, 1969 in Cherry Point, North Carolina to Harry and Jaynie Oakley. He graduated from Sachem High School in Long Island, New York in 1985 and married his high school sweetheart Yvette Vion in 1987. After moving to Texas in 1988 they had 4 children whom he cared and loved dearly. He raised them to walk with God and taught them lessons in life. He loved the outdoors and being at the beach. He is remembered for teaching and coaching them in sports, soccer and baseball of which was his passion and a Texas Rangers fan, he taught them how to fish and to hunt, as well as teaching them about nature and the outdoors while on some of the many camping trips he had with his family. He was always full of knowledge and wisdom . He loved his family and grandchildren very much.
He graduated Texas Tech University in 2002 and held a Masters Degree in Science and P.A. Studies. He was a very respected Physician Assistant and well known in the medical community. He was always willing to lend a hand or offer some of his great wisdom to anyone who needed or asked. He loved attending church and being blessed with God’s wisdom.


Please help support an organization he loved and cared for in lieu of flowers. A donation will be made in Stephen’s name and memory to the Commerce Police Department to help assist with needed equipment. And also to the American Heart Association. Also with some expenses that may be incurred during this time.
