Funeral expenses for Rajjab & Persaud Family

My name is Abid Ally (first cousin of Salima Persaud). Today is a sorrowful and painful day for the Rajjab and Persaud

family. Yesterday, 6/17/22, in a devastating fire, Salima Persaud, Balo Persaud and their 22year-old son, Devon Persaud, was unfairly and fatally killed. We have no words to express our grief for such a way to die as a family. Their son, Boyo, his wife and their two young children, the family left behind in New York are inconsolable and not financially able to cover funeral expenses. Likewise, family members abroad in Guyana do not have the finances to come and say their final goodbyes. They were a family who worked hard and came from a humble background. It is unknown what caused the fire that ripped through their home in South Ozone Park at 104-18 125th St. There were about 200 firefighters battling the 5-alarm fire. 

This family perished in the fire and did not deserve to die like this. They were always so welcoming, treated everyone like family, and always tried their best to put a smile on everyone’s faces. It is our duty as human beings to give them the same love and care that they shared with everyone. 

We want to give them a send off and final resting place together that they deserve. We also want to be able to alleviate the economic and financial stress on their son, Boyo(Chaitram Persaud).

 Salima, also known as Sally was my first cousin, my sister who was a social butterfly, who was selfless, a genuine person, and was always the first one to help in any situation. Her husband was a hard working man who had to stop working due to a disability and who also recently had surgery their son, Devon just 22 years of age, was a smart and sensitive soul who showed care and compassion for all he met and left a last impression on all he met.

 

Any amount small or big will go a long way and be very much appreciated in helping our family, and their son Boyo with religious prayers, functions and funeral expenses.  We cannot personally thank each and everyone of you but know our gratitude is enormous at this difficult time. We want them to have the send off they all deserve to show our love before they laid to rest/cremated. 

Any funds in excess of funeral expenses and burial will go directly to Boyo (the surviving son) and his family.
