I am Patrick Thomas, Director of Kentucky Arts Academy. I am creating a fundraiser on behalf of Pauls Culligans family to raise funds to cover his funeral expenses. We are all heartbroken over the loss of Paul Culligan. He touched thousands of musicians and music lovers all over with his smile, musicianship and friendship. He was THE Rythmn King, the drummer of drummers. He created such incredible pockets of rhythm that at times was just amazing. Truly a God-Given talent. The fortunate ones that have played with him through the years know exactly what I mean.
Paul was also a great teacher. He loved to teach drums to the kids. Paul was our drum teacher at Kentucky Arts Academy where he taught 4 days a week for the last 4 and a half years. All of his students loved him and looked up to him. Some students would say "I want to be like Mr Paul" and they would wear the black cowboy hat just like he did. Yesterday we had our Summer recital and Paul was scheduled to perform with his students. We held a memorial at the recital and his students play in his memory. I am posting some photos from the recital. Some of Pauls family attended and we agreed to arrange a Go Fund Me fund to help cover Pauls funeral expenses. They also requested any additional funds go to a Kentucky Arts Academy Scholarship Fund in Pauls Name. Paul Culligan was truly an amazing musician, truly an amazing teacher, truly an amazing man and mostly an amazing true friend. May his soul Rest In Peace.
