With an extremely heavy, broken, and sad heart, we announce the passing of our Ángel Efrén Peña, a month shy of his 30th birthday. He unexpectedly passed away on Friday, September 9, 2022 in Oceanside, California.

As a way to honor his life in this moment, We are not ready to share the details behind his passing as it is a fresh wound linked to heavy trauma that we want to heal from. We take comfort in knowing that the Payómkawichum ancestors of these lands and our family ancestors were there to receive, guide and bless him into his new heavenly home.

Ángel was the grandchild of Doña Elena & Don Ángel and Doña Chelo & Don Efrén, son of Raúl Peña Rivera and Oralia Hernández, brother to Ricardo, juanito, Daisy, Raúl Jr., and Ulisses. He was the father of Elena Peña and uncle to Amaya and Aleli Peña. He was a friend to many. Ángel was born and raised in Oceanside, California and served in the US Army Reserves.

We miss him dearly.

Con un corazón pesado, roto y triste, anunciamos el fallecimiento de nuestro Ángel Efrén Peña, a un mes de cumplir sus 30 años. Falleció inesperadamente el viernes, 9 de septiembre de 2022 en Oceanside, California. 

Como una forma de honrar su vida, en este momento, no estamos listos para compartir los detalles detrás de su fallecimiento, ya que es una herida reciente vinculada a un trauma que aún tenemos que sanar. Nos consuela saber que los ancestros ​​Payómkawichum de estas tierras y nuestros ancestros ​​familiares estuvieron allí para recibirlo, guiarlo y bendecirlo en su nuevo espacio. 

Ángel era nieto de Doña Elena & Don Ángel y Doña Chelo & Don Efrén, hijo de Raúl Peña Rivera y Oralia Hernández, hermano de Ricardo, juanito, Daisy, Raúl Jr. y Ulisses. Era papá de Elena Peña y tío de Amaya y Aleli Peña. Fue amigo de muchos. Ángel nació y se crió en Oceanside, California y sirvió en las Reservas del US Army. 

Lo extrañamos mucho.
