Hello, everyone
I am reaching out with great sadness to inform you all of the passing of my mother, Genoveva Perez, who passed away on November 20, 2023. On July 31, 2023, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer during an admission to Torrance Memorial Hospital due to a ruptured lump on her left breast. As we awaited her test results, on September 1, 2023, my mother hit her toe on a metal chair, causing a fracture to her right femur. I called the paramedics to rush her to Kaiser in Harbor City. During her hospitalization at Kaiser, more scans and biopsies were performed. The results of all the tests and scans concluded that she had stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Due to her advanced diagnosis, treatment was not an option for her.
On September 29, 2023, my mother was admitted to Torrance Memorial Hospital for an elevated resting heart rate. The doctor who was caring for her informed me that my mother's survival rate was slim. During this hospitalization, my mother chose to come home with hospice. This choice was such a difficult option to choose for her, my children, and me. As her only child and her only immediate family member here in the U.S., my obligation and responsibility was to care for my mother. I stopped working to care for her, which led to many life adjustments on both ends, hers and mine. My mother had always been very independent and a hard worker. My mother worked as a barber for over 30 years.
Due to my mother's immigration status here, she did not have the proper documentation to make her eligible for better health coverage. This also led to her not being eligible for IHSS or any financial assistance.
Unfortunately, I was not financially prepared for this unexpected life event. Therefore, I am humbly reaching out to ask for any donations that would help me fund my mother's funeral services. Any amount would be greatly appreciated.
I will be providing my mother's funeral services here once I have her services scheduled.
Thank you in advance.
