Funeral Expenses for My Dad, Emiliano Jr. Aviles
Donation protected
My father, Emiliano Jr. Aviles, passed away on Sunday, January 30th, 2022, after suffering from a massive heart attack.
In the fall of 2017, my father battled aortic dissection and won, spending 43 days in the hospital and undergoing multiple surgeries. We were lucky. Thanks to knowledgeable and quick-thinking emergency room staff, my dad was saved.
He was given a few more years to spend making memories with his family and friends. Time to play a few more rounds of golf and eat grilled cheese from the casino. Time to get overly competitive in Scrabble (because I steal all the triple word scores from him). Time to fall in love with Teddy, a dog he "didn't want." Time to watch Tom Brady win two more rings.
No one expects to lose their dad at 28.
No one expects to lose their dad at 26.
No one expects to lose their dad at 22.
No one expects to lose their dad at 16.
No one expects to lose their dad at 14.
But we did, and my mother lost her husband of 31 years.
My grandparents lost their son, my aunts lost their brother, and my cousins lost their uncle.
I've opened this donation page to assist my mother with end-of-life care and funeral expenses. All donations will go directly to my family, and any amount is appreciated. If you cannot donate, please share the page with family, friends and followers who may be able to help.
Author's Note: My dad was my best friend. I am not ready for this. I am not prepared for this. While I'm grateful for the extra time we had, it wasn't enough. Not nearly enough. We are all missing him and will be missing him for a very long time. I love you, Dad. I wish I could thank you for everything.
