Funeral expenses for Michelle Trivett

Michelle “Shelly” Lynn Trivett, was last seen by friends and family on October 21st, 2022. There were little to no updates to the public (residents of Damascus) about Shelly’s disappearance. This led to a lot of confusion and misinformation about finding Shelly. Residents wanted to help and contribute to the search but didn’t know how.

On December 21st, 2022, human remains were discovered in a wooded area inside town limits. A few weeks later Shelly’s remains were positively identified. She was 48 years old.

This has been an absolute tragedy for Shelly’s family to endure these past few months. So many unanswered questions and uncertainty complicates the grieving process. Myself and Mayor Katie Lamb have visited and are in constant contact with her family. Katie was with the family during a recent visit to the funeral home where final preparations were made to lay Shelly to rest.

Rarely do we anticipate the passing of a loved one and we are oftentimes unprepared both emotionally and financially for the loss. As of now, Shelly’s remains have not been released and are still being held for investigative purposes. The family is waiting to finalize the funeral details. With this in mind, I am asking for your help to offset expenses relating to the funeral. Typically, funeral expenses are approximately $3,500. Raising additional funds for the family would help to cover unexpected expenses. A family in our community needs our help. Let’s come together and show them we care!

Mayor Lamb and I will coordinate directly with the funeral home to ensure the expenses are handled and taken care of promptly.
