Funeral Expenses for Max Soviak

Max Soviak, a 2017 graduate of Edison High School in Milan, Ohio was killed in action on 26 August 2021 at Kabul Airport in Afghanistan. Max was serving as a Hospital Corpsman with a Marine unit protecting civilians and military personnel that were actively attempting to evacuate Afghanistan. Max was killed by a terrorist bombing alongside 12 other Marines.

Max was a young Sailor, who in serving and doing his duty lost in life in the line of duty.  This is a tragedy that will cause the family pain which I cannot imagine.  The military will cover his immediate expenses, but we are very aware that there are always so many other expenses that need to be covered.  We donate to this fund to help the family with any miscellaneous expense, whether it be family travel, lodging, food, lost wages, anything they need at all.  We do this in appreciation of who Max was, but in deep gratitude and sorrow for his loss. We mourn with his family and friends.  Most of us may not have known Max, but we desire to contribute, to share our sorrow at his loss, and to do any small part that we can to help this family during this rough time.

My name is Patrick Bowen, I am a retired US Navy Senior Chief in the Ohio Chief community and many years ago served in the units in which Max served. As a former Sailor, as an Ohioan, and as an American Max's loss touches me deeply and I, and many others, desire to do what little we can to support his family and loved ones.  This is the least we can do. 100% of the proceeds will be presented to the family for their expenses. Those expenses, determined by them may be used for travel, funeral, or any other item or expense they encumber during this time.  The only beneficiary or individuals able to access any funds will be Max's family, I as the organizer will never access nor have any connection configured to withdraw any funds.
