Funeral expenses for Matthew Wheeler
Donation protected
Matthew Wheeler was involved in a fatal accident on Saturday, June 25th, while riding his motorcycle in Redford.
With a very heavy heart, I am setting up this fundraiser to help Matt's family pay for his funeral expenses.
With a very heavy heart, I am setting up this fundraiser to help Matt's family pay for his funeral expenses.
Matt was only 29 years old. He is survived by his mother, Kimberly Showalter, and his two brothers, Ryan and Kyle, who were his best friends. When you saw one of the brothers, the other two would usually be nearby as they did EVERYTHING together, from living together to working together and especially sharing all of life's moments together.
Matt was an unbelievable son, brother, friend and a wonderful uncle to his only nephew Liam (Best buds).
Matt was so proud of his motorcycle. I was with Kim when he called her to share the news of purchasing it! To say he was excited is an understatement.
I have known Matthew since he was about eight years old. He was full of energy and lived life to the fullest. He became a student of mine in the 6th grade at Hilbert Junior High. I was mortified when he came into my classroom doing a backflip over a desk! He liked to get a rise out of people, especially his mom. He was a roofer with his brothers and Uncle Scott, who sadly passed away earlier this year from lung cancer at 52. He was an avid photographer/videographer and often posted videos of his work which made my heart skip a beat seeing him up on a roof walking around with a camera. He was a food connoisseur, he liked trying new restaurants and enjoyed food trucks. He loved all things Detroit, listening to music, sending his mom songs to listen to and going to concerts. He was a friend to everyone. He was helpful and would do anything for anyone. He had a huge heart. Dislikes - having his picture taken with a passion and forbade anyone from posting his picture on social media. I was hesitant to add one to this page for fear he would find a way to let me know he was mad at me, hence using one that has him in a costume and in the back!
The family is devastated by Matt’s unexpected passing and is struggling to find the funds to cover the cost of the service. The last thing you want to consider when dealing with loss is how to pay for a funeral. The arrangements are being worked out, and I will update you as soon as I have all the details.
As you can imagine, these times have not been friendly to many of us regarding finances. This family has been through some major hardships for the past year. I would love nothing more than to help them give Matt a sensible funeral service, but I cannot do so alone.
Any donation will go to Kim so she can honor her middle son in a memorable, meaningful way. Every gift will get this family closer to putting Matthew to rest peacefully.
Thank you sincerely for taking the time to read about Matt and for keeping the Showalter-Wheeler family in your thoughts during the days and weeks ahead
