Funeral Expenses for Mark Rickman

Hello, I’m Alicia Burkeen. I am raising funds to help with funeral expenses for my dear friends, the Rickman family.

Yesterday, sixty-three-year-old Mark Rickman passed away after a short battle with cancer. In 2023, Mark noticed a pea-sized knot in his cheek. The knot quickly grew, and his family urged him to go see about it. He was reluctant because he had no insurance. Finally, last year, he decided to go to the doctor. It was cancer, and it led to an 8-hour surgery to remove it and reconstruct that side of his face.

Last month, Mark started feeling sick, but again, was reluctant to go to the doctor because he had no insurance. Finally, through the urging of his family and a health department nurse, he went to the ER to find out he had an aggressive type of cancer in his liver and lungs. A little over a week ago, Mark again had to go to the ER and found out his kidneys were shutting down. He was airlifted to Vanderbilt in Nashville where he was on dialysis 24/7 for a week. An ambulance brought him home Tuesday evening, and he passed away yesterday.

Now, their only child Brandon Rickman and his wife Brandy are trying to take care of all the expenses because his parents have no insurance.
