My wonderful father, Mark Hawthorne Johnson, passed away suddenly on the morning of February 16, 2020. Dad was born and raised in Cleveland, lived in The Land his whole life, and bled Brown & Orange (and Blue & Red, and Scarlet & Gray, etc.). He was active in the BSA for many years, shepherding many young men, including his three sons, through their Eagle Scout projects. He was the recipient of many Scouting honors and awards. I have many memories of Dad coming home after a week-long summer camp trip, full of color and smells and a face full of beard stubble, with new funny stories and fond memories of the scouts in his care and the parent/adult co-leaders; it's my understanding that there are plenty of stories he never shared with us (what happens at camp, stays at camp LOL).

In the last fifteen years or so dad became a regular at several watering holes in the area: The Avon Lake American Legion Post #211, Third Base, and the Avon Rush Inn. He loved to meet his buddies there and talk about everything and nothing, have a good drink and a good laugh. He also enjoyed giving out Christmas fudge to his friends and hearing back about how much they enjoyed it.

Dad was our main-man, and his death has come as a shock to us all. He was still working full time as the sole employee of his own company, Emergency Medical Training Associates; this week he was supposed to be on the road for four days traveling to various cities in Ohio to train people at Carter Lumber (a heartfelt THANK YOU to all his clients that stuck with him over the years, your support means so much to our family). He was the primary bread-winner, keeping us housed and fed and warm, etc.
Unfortunately, as he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 13, had colon cancer in his mid-30s, and a quintuple heart-bypass in 2000, Dad could not get a life insurance policy. So we are faced now with having to cover the costs of his cremation & memorial service, and all the associated fees and expenses, out of pocket. That is why I am asking for any amount you might be able to donate to help us pay for these expenses. Thank you, friends, for your consideration. If you are not able to donate, please keep my dad and our family in your thoughts and prayers.
