Funeral expenses for Marie Bowser

I'm creating this fundraiser on behalf of Nicole, daughter of Marie, to help lift some of the burden off her shoulders in this difficult time. We have an urgent need to help Nicole with immediate costs, and to cover the costs of interment. Please read below for the life of Marie, and what we need help with. Thank you.

Marie Bowser was born in Montgomery, Alabama in 1950. She grew up and lived her life as a Christian, baptized by Martin Luther King, Jr., and an attendee of the Dexter Avenue church. She came from a big family, and had a large number of siblings. She left Alabama in her mid-teens to enter the Job Corps, where she finished high school and trained to be a Certified Nursing Assistant. She dedicated her hard work and loving heart to caring for others in nursing homes, and in home health, until she retired.

Marie moved to Seattle in the 1960’s, where she met and married her husband Isaiah, who preceded her in death. She had two children, Jason and Nicole, and many other friends that lovingly called her Mama-Marie, as she would always lend a place to stay, a full belly, and open arms to all of their friends. She has always loved and supported her family and friends in any way she could, through every difficulty and through the loss of her husband. She has always been an amazing mom and grandmother, and is adored by her grand-daughters, Sahara and Camira.

The family is devastated from losing Marie, and have been hit hard by expenses and the high cost of a funeral service. We want to give Marie the memorial she deserves, to honor her life and legacy, and to say our last goodbyes. Nicole has incurred significant costs as the sole caregiver, and we are urgently in need of funds to cover upcoming rent and bills, as Nicole had to quit working to be a full-time caregiver. Our primary concern is helping Nicole and Camira to have some stability at this time, and the space needed to grieve this devastating loss. We also need to cover the costs associated with interment. Marie was able to buy a plot at the Greenwood Cemetery in Renton many years ago, but we will need to cover the cost of the casket, transportation, and services. Information will be sent out on when the burial and services will happen as soon as we’re able to secure that. We hope you can help this family, who has given so much for others, and each other.
