Funeral Expenses for Maria Yolanda Stewart

Hello, This is Yolanda Stewart’s (Maria’s) Granddaughter Pamela Cervantes-Stewart.

On Tuesday May 20th, 2025, I received a call from my family members across the street at 5:30am that my grandmothers house was on fire. The house’s condition is very bad, and sadly, my grandmother did not make it. My uncle, Todd Stewart, was on the scene, but was taken into custody for investigation. We still do not have the full story on how the fire started.

We’d love for Yolanda (Yolie) to be remembered for all the good things she’s done. She was a grandmother figure to many and was always helping out her class committee, neighbors, and family & friends. Everywhere we went, Yolanda somehow knew everyone and was always seen as “chiquita pero picosa” to family and friends. She was known to lend a helping hand and rearrange her schedule just to help anyone out.

As we try to get items situated from the house, we are trying to plan for a memorial. My grandmother would get a small check of social security once a month, so money is a bit tight and anything helps truly. We will continue to update the Gofund me with where services will be held, but Yolanda has always asked to be cremated and then buried. She doesn’t have a plot yet, so if you have any recommendations for funeral homes, or know of anything that could help with expenses, please let us know!
