Funeral Expenses for Lydia Sanchez

Hello Dearest Friends and Family,

On February 8th 2022 we said goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother, wife, and friend, Lydia Sanchez.

Lydia entered into the hospital with a COVID-19 infection. She was experiencing shortness of breath and other flu like symptoms. Her oxygen was low but doctors were confident that it was not life-threatening because she was fully vaccinated months prior. We were so relieved to hear that she was going to be okay and come back home with us. Her stay in the hospital lasted a little more then a week. She was reunited with us and continued to receive oxygen at home.

She was noticeably tired but seemed to be making good progress towards recovering. Slowly the symptoms came back and by the end of her first week home she had to be rushed back into the emergency room. Her oxygen was low and she was having trouble breathing. We were able to speak to her and video chat with her for the first couple days. We kept hopeful and we received news that she was stable. Her vitals were normal and doctors were hopeful that her condition was not life threatening.

Doctors believed at the time that she had either a bacterial or fungal infection in her lungs which was the cause of her shortness of breath and low oxygen levels. The decision was made to have Lydia on the respirator so that she can breath easier while her body fights off the infection with the help of antibiotics and anti-fungal medications. Lydia had a history of lung scaring due to asthma coupled with arthritis and Lupus. Lupus is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks healthy tissue that she received monthly treatments to maintain her health.

After being placed on the respirator Lydia was no longer able to speak to her friends and family who were extremely worried about her. We called everyday to speak to her on the phone and reassure her that she was going to be okay and that we loved her dearly with all our hearts. We were not ready to let her go. Unfortunately nothing that the hospital was doing was making a significant impact on helping her condition improve and she was now reliant on the respirator to breath.

The doctors informed us that there was nothing more that they could do for her. Lydia's condition was worsening. They called to let us know that she was not going to make it trough the day and it was time to say our final goodbyes. We stayed on the phone with her sending all our love and prayers until she passed.

Lydia was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She took care of us everyday and we could always count on her to be a shoulder to lean on or someone that you can talk to about anything. She had so much love in her heart. Her laugh was infectious. She was such a good mother and an even more amazing person. Her selflessness made you feel like you were the most special person in the world. We are going to miss her for all the amazing times we have shared together. We'll never forget the love we all have for her and she will continue to live on in our hearts and minds. She would often call us her "angels" but now she is ours. She will be dearly missed by her family, co-workers, lifelong friends, and the students at Azusa High School.

The loss of Lydia, our beautiful matriarch, has left us heart-broken and praying for strength until we meet her again one day. In this time we humbly ask for your donations to assist in funding Lydia's funeral expenses. Anything that you can contribute to help reach our goal is appreciated. If you know anyone who Lydia has touched in her life please forward to them as well.
