From Cody, Leeah’s Eldest

My mom, Leeah "Lutes" Coccia, was a wonderful person who had nothing but love to give to the world. She would do anything in her power to show how much she cared for people and to put thought into everything she did. My mom was the kind of person who would make sure she met her goal whether that meant saving $5 a month for an expensive gift or purchase, or making do with what she had and creating thoughtful things from what most would consider nothing. My mom didn’t deserve the final years she was dealt but I hope she is content and is free from the struggles she had to deal with in this time. She was always full of surprising skills such as collecting coupons in a way that would get the store to give HER money instead of paying for a cart full of products.

While I have tons of positive stories I’d like to share about my mom, I’d like to explain the circumstances by which not everyone might know.

Due to circumstances outside of her control, my mother’s good nature became clouded by mental illness. While she was the same loving person she had always been, her perception of reality was skewed and in the end I believe this became too much to bear. Having lost our grandmother, who was my mom’s mother, only about six months ago, Mom was pushed beyond her limits and we believe this is truly a case of dying of a broken heart.

For this reason, we did not discuss the possibility of a funeral. We thought we would have many more years with my mom and did not plan a funeral or save for the expenses. I will ensure that the expenses get paid, as her Eldest, but any help that others could offer is greatly appreciated. If we exceed the funding amount, any extra will go towards supporting her other closest surviving family members, Dave House (Boyfriend/Basically her Husband of 15+ years) and Casey Stammer (youngest son). My intention in explaining this is to be clear about how the money will be used for the people who decide to donate.

I’ve already been blown away by the outreach of people who truly cared for my mother and the stories they have passed on to me. I look forward to finding the writings my mom has left (she loved to write) as well as writing down the stories of those she was close to. I will post the funeral details once it has been scheduled. We are still waiting on the finalized date.
