On June 15th, 2019, the Arsenault family and close friends were given news that would change their lives and create unimaginable emptiness and sadness. Janice Arsenault was in an unfortunate boating accident and, two days later, it was confirmed that she had not survived. She was a beloved mother, sister, daughter, and doggy-grandmom to her most favorite pup, Gunther. However, the love for Janice did not stop with her family and friends -- she was beloved by the entire city of Umatilla and anyone who had the honor of meeting her. She worked full time as an office specialist at Blue Mountain Community College (BMCC), where she was known for keeping up morale and motivating students. She was also a volunteer firefighter at the Umatilla Rural Fire Department, where she saved others' lives (literally). But even with her superhero tendency to do so much for everyone around her, she was always humble and lived her life to the fullest. Her love for life and everyone in it was as big as her radiant personality.
While I did not get an opportunity to meet Janice, it's as though I had the pleasure of knowing her through one of my closest friends, Kelsie Arsensault. The love and similarities between the two can't be explained through words. I recently also met her entire family, and it was evident through their words and energy that Janice's love and spirit has changed many lives and will continue to do so. Kelsie and her family have gone through so much in such a small amount of time, and it pains me to see them have to suffer.
On behalf of the Arsenault family, I would like to start this plea for assistance in order to help with some funeral and travel costs for the family. Due to the untimely nature of Janice's death, the expenses were something no one could prepare for. In addition, the family will be flying to Prince Edward Island, Canada, in order to have a proper funeral with all of their extended family and to also bring Janice home to be with her deceased father. Even the smallest contribution will make a significant difference. Thank you so much in advance, as all the love, support, and monetary contributions are greatly appreciated.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 29th, 2019 at 3pm, at Hermiston High School in Hermiston, OR. Flowers, donations, and other contributions may also be sent to 160 Rio Senda St. Umatilla, OR 97882. Thank you to everyone who is able to support in any way.
