On May 10th 2021, Heaven gained another Angel as Gilberto, "Gilbert" Mata, was called upon by our Lord and Savior. He was born in Harlingen, and raised in Mercedes, Texas. The eldest of 6 siblings, and graduated from Mercedes High School, as a standout multi-sport athlete, well known for his contributions to the Mercedes Tigers baseball team, that reached the State Championship in 1974. Gilbert then went on to meet the love of his life, Belinda, and tied the knot in 1985. This was the beginning of a beautiful 36 year, life long marriage, and they went on to have three children. Vanessa, Rebecca, and Carlos. Gilbert was a family man, and a phenomenal father, but most importantly, a genuine human being. You may also know Gilbert for his hard work, passion, and commitment to the WorkForce Organization for over many years. Where he gave out a helping hand to anyone in need, and met some of his dearest friends and colleagues.  He will forever be loved and missed, and in our minds and hearts. The Mata family is humbly asking for monetary donations to help aid the cost of medical, funeral, and burial expenses.
