Genarino Casanova, 65, of West Haven died peacefully on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, St. Raphael Campus with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of thirty eight years to Maria Rodríguez. Genarino was born in Pucallpa, Perú on March 9, 1956, a son of the late Roberto Casanova and the late Concepción Rengifo. He lived in Perú for most of his life, and had resided in West Haven for the past twenty six years. Genarino received his Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Universidad de San Marcos, Lima, Perú, and served as an economist for the Peruvian Ministry of the Interior until 1996. He also served in the Peruvian Army. Upon moving to West Haven, Genarino worked for several area manufacturing firms, including the former Winchester Repeating Arms Co. of New Haven and the former CamCo Fittings Co. of Hamden, and received an Associate's Degree in English from Gateway Community College. Besides his wife Maria, Genarino is survived by two daughters, Pierina Casanova and Shirley Casanova of West Haven, a son, Robert Casanova and his wife Yadira Duarte of Bridgeport, two sisters, Esmir Casanova of Rome, Italy and Zulma Casanova of West Haven, one brother, Royer Casanova of Tarapoto, Perú, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by three sisters, Elena Casanova, Elva Casanova, Admendia Casanova, and Biomar Casanova. Generino's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, January 21st from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at a later date in Perú.
