Garth Letts Jr passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday morning December 19th. 

 

On Saturday December 4th he was admitted into Genesis Easy Hospital due to chest pains. While he was there they discovered he had a split in his Aorta valve. Things took a turn for the worst and he was life flighted to Iowa City Hospital on Tuesday December 7th where they found the split in his Aorta valve to be a lot bigger than they thought and his intestines were starting to die off due to lack of blood flow. They rushed him into surgery where they had to remove a significant amount of his intestines that were already too far gone and put in a stint to repair the valve. In the next couple of days they had to go back in for multiple surgeries to remove more of his intestines that couldn’t be repaired. In total he had 140cm (4 1/2ft) of his intestines removed. He was released to go home from the Iowa City Hospital on December 16th to start his road to recovery. He passed unexpectedly the morning of December 19th.

 

Garth unfortunately didn’t have any life insurance or money set aside for funeral costs so the family is asking for any and all help. Anything is greatly appreciated. Garth was an amazing person and loved his family and deserves a proper burial beside his late wife Lori Ann Letts.
