As many of you know, Edelmira Ortega passed away on Sunday July 18, 2021. Her family is dealing with the unimaginable loss of their mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great great-grandmother under tragic circumstances in a flash flood in Mexico. Edelmira was born in Puerto Rico on June 2nd, 1943 and came to the San Francisco bay area in her teens where she spent most of her life. She moved to Mexico later in her life, where she became a beloved part of the community. After her death, while being transported to Arizona, she was taken to her home for a quick viewing and was greeted by dozens of people in her community that loved her. She was even serenaded one last time by neighborhood musicians. Wherever she went, whoever she met became family. She clothed, fed, and gave a home to anyone that needed it. We can never truly measure the positive impact she made in her life.
