Hi everyone,
It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of my father, Dan Gerchakov, passing on January 10th, 2022. Our family learned that he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) about 6 months ago. We don't know how long he must have had it, but when we found out, it had been too far gone for an effective treatment to fully remove the cancer. Without chemotherapy, the doctor said he had a few days to a few weeks. If you knew my father, you won't be surprised to learn that he fought for much longer.
Dan had an enormous personality and touched countless lives with his perceptive intelligence, his mischievous sense of humor, and his tough but bottomless kindness. He always saw the beauty in the world around him and did his best to help us see it too. With the little he had, he would fight to make sure that the people he loved were taken care of.
As you may know, he was never a wealthy man—and he would've hated to be one! But we could use your help to give him a proper send-off and cover some of the expenses of the past few months. If you're able, you'll have the sincere gratitude of his family. If not, we would appreciate it if you could share this campaign with others. Regardless, I hope you'll take a moment to revisit your memories of my father and keep him in your heart as we will.
With love,
Rachael
