My name is Heath VanDeaver, and C.W. is my father-in-law. C.W. went to the hospital two weeks ago with abdominal pain, and he was diagnosed with a bowel obstruction. When the Dr did surgery, he discovered that the mesh from a hernia surgery years ago had become intertwined with C.W.'s intestines, colon, and bowels, and his entire abdomen was filled with infection. The Dr removed the mesh and part of his abdominal wall, and tried to make repairs to the destruction he found. The Dr did surgery every day for almost a week to wash infection out and make abdominal repairs. Each day, the repairs the Dr had made the day before had failed. On Friday, November 3rd, the Dr had arranged to speak with the family after he performed his surgery that day to wash C.W. out, presumably to inform us that there was nothing else he could do. When the Dr came out from that surgery, he was smiling! The repairs he had made the day before had held together for the first time, and we actually had a little bit of hope. The Dr explained that he would still need to have another surgery to reconnect his bowels, and that if this surgery didn't work, that would be it. That surgery was completed on Saturday morning, and we were so hopeful that it had worked. As time has passed since Saturday, it has become evident that it was not successful, and C.W. has not woken up since. He is currently on a ventilator, which the family will be making a decision to remove on Wednesday, November 8th.
For any of you that have had the pleasure to know C.W. knows what a tough man he is, and he has fought so hard through all of this. He has had that infection inside of him for years most likely, and his earthly body is give out.
His family is completely heartbroken by what is happening. His sweet wife Angie Hines, and his children, Ashley, Cade, and Karcee, and his grandkids Camden, Wes, Lawson, Loralie, and Cohen will forever miss C.W., Daddy, and Pawpaw. As will many friends and extended family.
Unfortunately C.W. does not have life insurance, and the family needs your help to give C.W. a modest funeral and burial.
Thank you, and God bless you!
