Funeral expenses for Christopher Matherne

Kristi Matherne and her husband, Christopher Matherne Sr. have suffered a loss no one should have to endure: The loss of their child, Christopher Jr. Christopher was a happy, healthy 17 year old young man who was stricken with Covid towards the end of August. The family lives in Houma, Louisiana which was hit with Hurricane Ida on August 29. The Mathernes did not evacuate due to Christopher still not feeling quite up to par. On September 3, five days after the hurricane delivered a tremendous amount of damage to their home, Christopher was rushed to the hospital due to a drop in oxygen levels. He spent 5 days on a bipap machine, trying to get as much oxygen into his system as possible. When this wasn't proving to be effective, he was placed on a ventilator and ECMO. He spent 24 days connected to an ECMO machine in a medically induced coma in the hopes that his lungs would have time to heal. Many complications ensued, including heart, lung and liver issues, and Christopher ended up having 39 blood and platelet transfusions. Today, nearly one month after he was airlifted to Children's Hospital, Christopher gained his wings. His parents and his sister are now left with the unimaginable pain and difficulty of finding some semblance of a new normal. As you can imagine, hospital bills will be overwhelming. Added to that will be the high hurricane deductible they must meet to have their home repaired from the storm and funeral expenses. Any amount you can give would be so appreciated by this family as they struggle to cope with the loss of their son.

The family plans on using all donations for funeral and medical expenses as well as their deductible they must meet for their home repairs.
