Funeral Expenses for Artist Ruben Galicia
Donation protected
On Wednesday October 16th the Phoenix Arts community lost one of it's greatest supporters, artist Ruben Galicia. Ruben was respected and liked by the art community, cultural institutions and personal collectors. His art brought to light a mixture of personal visions, as well as a collection of cultural histories that most likely was inspired during his time living at Mexico City. He embraced his roots with symbols and stylistic methods using Meso-American art imagery as an anchor to his art. Most artists and collectors would immediately recognize his style, colors and strong, but subtle messages.
There was never an arts project that Ruben refused to help by sharing his art with others. Ruben will be missed and will be forever close to the hearts of his family, friends and art community.
Surviving family members are his wife Lourdes Castañeda-Galicia, his older son Ruben Galicia Jr. 19, and his younger son Maximus Galicia 11. He was also survived by his mother Camerina Vasquez, brothers and sisters; Beatriz Galicia, Guadalupe Galicia, Jose Luis Galicia and Jesus Galicia.
At the moment, the family is requesting the community's assistance to cover the funeral expenses.
