Funeral Expenses for Alma Rosa Vasic
Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family,
It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing the passing of my sweet mother, Alma Rosa Vasic. For those of you that knew her, you knew that she was a big ray of sunshine. She always put the needs of others over her own, and was a pure source of unconditional love.
Throughout her life, she graciously donated over $250,000 to the LGBTQ community, to assist with AIDS research. She also proudly supported the San Diego Zoo, as a part of the Trustees Circle. Her donations extended to St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, Francis Parker School for education, and Make-A-Wish Foundation to help children in need, to name a few.
Mom got COVID-19 in the beginning of January, and although a swift and tough battle, it ultimately took her life. She was a fighter, and she fought graciously and whole-heatedly until the very end — so much so, that none of us thought it was the end just yet.
As you can imagine, my family was not at all prepared for the financial burden that comes along with a proper funeral service and burial. That is why I am reaching out to you all in hopes that you’ll show your support.
I want to plan something beautiful, and I'd truly like to respect Mom's religious wishes.
So you know exactly where your donation will be used, we are planning a modest but proper ceremony. Every little bit helps.
Following Serbian Orthodox religion requires the burial of a physical body. To honor her wishes, Mom will be laid to rest next to my dad.
El Camino Memorial Cemetery is quoting us $4,925.86 alone just to bury her.
This does not include the basic cost of the ceremony, which we were told could range between $8,000-12,000.
She helped so many people in her lifetime, and this is the moment we humbly ask for help back. For those who can, we kindly ask for your assistance of a small donation to help create this experience for my mom.
We would love to celebrate her life in the way she would've wanted, and in the way that she deserves.
Mom's big heart and unconditional love was truly one-of-a-kind. She will be missed by so many. I know she appreciates everyone's cumulative efforts, and we look forward to working together to build a moment where she can feel the absolute love and support of everyone whose lives she touched while alive.
Thank you so much for even considering donating, and for taking the time to read about my sweet mom, Alma Rosa Vasic. She loves you all.
Here you will find a link to the fundraiser we have started for the funeral.
