Funeral Expenses for 1st ICE Detainee COVID Death

Carlos Ernesto Escobar Mejia who fled violence in El Salvador decades ago, died at the hands of ICE despite the fact that he should never have been detained in the first place, and was refused release despite qualifying as a member of a very high risk class of detainees who federal courts across the country have already ordered released. 
NOW ICE IS DEMANDING THAT HIS FAMILY WHO IS EXTREMELY POOR PAY $1700 FOR HIS CREMATION!
Let's not wait for ICE once again to live up to its legal and moral responsibilities. Let's take care of him and his very humble and deserving family and provide him with an honorable goodbye and take care of his burial and memorial services!
