It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of my brother, John Hmong Vang, on 09/07/2025. He passed at the age of 30. John was always positive, kind, and had the biggest heart.
John is survived by his mother, Mai Yang Her, and three sisters, Mai Chue, PaTong, and PaShong.
At a very young age, he was diagnosed with Fanconi Anemia. Doctors later found a match for him and were able to perform a bone marrow transplant. After the second bone marrow transplant, it was a success. He later went on and graduated school with his BA in Liberal Arts in 2018.
When he started his first job in 2021, he was diagnosed with carcinoma cancer in his mouth. A few months later, he went into surgery to remove the cancer. He then started with immunotherapy to keep the cancer in check (as John and I like to say). In 2024, doctors saw that he had esophagus cancer, and it had spread. His doctor placed him on hospice, and a few months later, he then passed away at Hinds Hospice.
