Laying Our Beloved Jesus J. Garcia To Rest

Donation protected
My father, Jesus J Garcia, has been fighting against congestive heart failure for 5 years. On February 23, 2019 he recieved the call from the transplant team at Northwestern Memorial Hospital to inform him that they found a heart match for him. It was the best news as our family has prayed for this. My dad was very excited and stayed optimistic that everything was going to be ok, that he would finally be able to ride a bicycle again after 2 years, and live a long healthy life with our family. If he was scared to go into surgery then believe me you would never know it.
The surgery took place Monday morning and we were told everything went well, the heart was pumping well. That night the doctor called to tell us that they needed to hook him up to ecmo to help the blood circulate through his body. The next day we were informed that kidneys required dialysis as they were not functioning properly. And of course he was still intubated and sedated through this.
We were told this was all temporary as his body recovers from the surgery.
His body was not showing any sign of improvement and they were worried it could be due to his right leg being broken and potentially infected as the blow flow to his foot weakened.  We hoped that amputating his leg would help his body heal. So we proceeded with the surgery.
As days turned into weeks unfortunately we saw no sign of improvement. They were unable to wean him off the multiple medications to keep his blood pressure up, or get him off the ecmo, and his kidneys kept requiring dialysis. We met with his care team and they informed us that there was nothing more they could do for him, his body was too sick to recover.
My dad was surrounded by his loved ones throughout this whole process. He had an amazingly hopeful wife and four children there by his side every single day. As a family we had to make the difficult decision to let him go on to the Heavans above. He fought for us, and we prayed every day for him. What was to come was in the hands of God.
On the morning of Monday, March 11th, 2019, he passed away. As I said in the beginning, he was very hopeful and optimistic. Death wasn't an option for him and we as a family were not ready for it. During this difficult time we ask for any donations to help us lay our beloved Father, Husband, and Grandpa to rest in peace. Anything would be greatly appreciated.

Love always,
