Funeral Donations for Shun Yu
My name is Velalena Moua and I am the eldest granddaughter of Shun Yu.
I am starting this fundraiser in hopes of raising finances for funeral expenses for my grandmother, who passed away today, July 29th at 7 PM. The donations will also be going towards my grandpa to help him move forward by providing him financial assistance, as he no longer works. It will also support him to receive his dialysis 3 times a week.
My grandmother was a caring and hardworking woman. My grandparents both immigrated to the United States in hope of seeking a better life. From there on, she was able to find a job and worked as a chef in Cupertino, California for over 30 years at a locally owned Chinese restaurant to support her 3 sons. She was always a selfless woman that opened her arms to anyone by welcoming them with love and kindness. She dedicated all her time and effort to her family and ensured that we felt secure.
About a year and a half ago during quarantine, my grandma reported having lower back pain. She was taken to the hospital, where the doctor had medically examined her. At first, they couldn't determine what the problem was but they eventually concluded that she had a tumor in her spine. They had told us that the tumor in her spine was cancerous and had spread to major organs in her body such as her lungs, liver, bone, brain, and spine. Since then, she had been diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer. For a year, my grandma has been battling stage 4 cancer. She was given experimental drugs and received chemotherapy for 3 months starting in March of this year. Unfortunately, there is no progress in the treatment given to her.
Please consider donating, as any amount will truly help with the funeral expenses.
Thank you for your support and donation to our family during this difficult time.
