Funeral for Evgeniy & support for his family
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Lucy and I’m writing this post on behalf of our Ukrainian guest Anna and her family who are from Mariupol, Ukraine.
Having survived weeks in a war zone Anna and her young son Mark were able to escape and subsequently travel to safety in the UK.
After no contact for over 2 months with no electricity/internet/phone, Anna’s mother Maria was rescued from a basement in Mariupol where she had to drink water from the heating system to survive. She was rescued by her exceptionally brave son Evgeniy who drove into occupied Russian territory to find her and risked his life to save her, walking 25km across the destroyed city and being harassed by Russian soldiers.
Tragically, a few days after this Evgeniy was found dead aged just 35. His family do not have enough money to have him cremated individually so he will go to a mass grave hence why we are trying to raise funds to give him the funeral he deserves.
Their mother Maria is alone in Kyiv with just the clothes she was wearing when she left Mariupol. Her home has been destroyed and she has nothing. Any money raised will go directly to the family.
