Marshall Maddox was a great man, husband, and single father to a son and daughter. He was unable to obtain life insurance due to the many pre existing medical conditions he had throughout his life. He was born with a cleft palet and it was so bad they said he would never speak properly but he overcame that and would talk your ear off. Lol He got rheumatic heart as a child. Then as he entered adulthood had his lungs collapse a couple of times and was diagnosed with COPD and went into the hospital many times as he had pnemonia over 100 times during his life. He also had blood pressure and heart problems (leaky valves and an aeortic aneurysm) He battled for over 5 years with the help of a lawyer to help him get disability for his medical problems as he was unable to work. He tried many times to get life insurance to help his family with funeral costs but was denied everytime due to these pre existing conditions. He got sick recently and went into ICU with staph in his lungs and blood and pulled through but after a few short weeks was put back in ICU after 5 broncs to try and clear his lungs and help him breath failed and was placed on a respirator in hopes of recovery but after a few days in ICU he was put on dialysis bc his kidneys were not functioning properly. After a few more days they stopped producing urine all together as they had shut down completely. The day after that they had to remove the feeding tube as he was no longer able to digest food and his organs were shutting down one at a time. His daughter and I made the hardest decision of our lives deciding to shut the machines off after doctors recommendations as he was not going to recover and only prolonging the inevidable and his suffering. This was in no way expected and came out of nowhere. Marshall was such a great man and helped anyone who ever asked for help. I am hoping that now our friend and family and anyone else who has it in their heart to, will help our family in this very hard and devastating time in our lives. We would like to lay him to rest as soon as possible and at this moment the hospital has agreed to keep his body in their morgue until we can afford to have him moved and arrangements can be made to pay.
