Funeral Costs and Support for the Chan Family
Donation protected
On December 30, 2020, Dr. Sammy Chan, loving father, husband, brother, mentor, and friend had passed away at the age of 65 to COVID-19.
Dr. Sammy Chan graduated from UCLA Medical School in 1994 and has worked as an Emergency Room Physician for the last 26 years. Although Dr. Chan was considered high risk to contracting the COVID-19 virus, he continued to serve the communities of El Monte, Downey, Whittier, Alhambra, and Compton in California during the pandemic. Like many healthcare professionals, Dr. Chan was at the front line against our battle with COVID-19 and understood the risks he was taking to help save the lives of the countless patients he treated. Despite these risks, he loved what he did and there was no stopping him. He was passionate about medicine, giving back to the community and keeping his family safe.
For those of you who knew him personally, Dr. Chan looked to find the humor in things. His house was never quiet, because he ensured his home was filled with family, full of love and drowned with laughter—the laughter never stopped. Every year he rooted for his Dodgers, he enjoyed learning new things, unwinding with a Negra Modelo, and he could not get enough of his Roxana’s (Rosie) cooking. He was a mentor to many members of the family and he always looked for ways he could extend his support to help them succeed.
Dr. Chan was a generous person with a huge heart, as he looked for ways to share what he had to help others. He will remain forever in our hearts and will be deeply missed. The Chan Family is appreciative of everyone’s thoughts and prayers.
Please help us in offering the Chan Family our love and support during this difficult time. All money raised will go towards hospital bills and funeral expenses. Any remaining funds will be used to help support the family with any financial needs.
