When it comes to writing something like this, I feel the best way to be is completely honest and raw with the situation at hand. My name is Kelley and my beloved brother, Joseph Scott (Joey, Joe, Jojo), has passed away. This has come to a shock to our family and we all are completely devastated. Joseph passed away less than a week after his 33rd birthday (April 15). He leaves behind a loving father, William, brother Kevin and three sisters, Allison, Kelley, and Molly. We feel he is now at peace with our mother, Janice, who passed away 4 years prior on April 18, 2018. Joey touched so many lives. I can see it even more by the posts and messages people have been saying about him and it’s so amazing.
He was hardworking, funny as can be, extremely athletic, a friend people wanted to be around, someone to have your back, a big and little brother, an uncle, a son, and so much more. Behind all these amazing qualities, for a long time Joey has struggled with inner demons that he faced everyday. He had many amazing moments and then moments where he coped with these inner demons by turning to substance abuse. No one should and no family should have to go through this. But sometimes us as outsiders will never truly understand no matter how much love and support you give to someone. Sometimes these demons are too much. Although this time Joey may have seemed so good on the outside, unfortunately what he was suffering inside was too much. Joey will forever be missed by his entire family and all of his friends. The outpour of love and the devastation from friends and family continues to grow everyday which makes this that much harder.
Due to the unexpected passing, my father and family are unfortunately struggling financially for the expenses that go along with funeral costs and other arrangements due to this death. We are reaching out to the community, family and friends to help support the Scott family in such a difficult time. We appreciate anything anyone can help with during this time.
