Funeral Cost, Lawyer Fees and Counseling
Hi my name is Elana and I’m fundraising for the Thompson Family. I meet Scott Thompson in 1993. We were both new in the EHS field. We spent the next 20+ years working together, increasing our knowledge and building our careers in the EHS field. I was so impressed to watch my friend grow in his confidence, get his degree and create a successful career!
On the personal side we both got engaged, married and had our kids together. I’m so thankful for him for bringing me one of my dearest friends, his wife Amber, and being one of my husband’s best friends. Our families went to first swim lessons together, had many family bbqs, bday parties and parent date nights. Our lives were intertwined and we so enjoyed our family friend. I also got to watch my long time friend become a great husband and an amazing dad who loved to coach his boys sports teams.
Then mental illness showed it’s ugly head. As Amber, Chad and I looked back we realized there were signs. Hindsight sometime makes things so clear. We all wanted to support Scott and see him continue to thrive. I think the three of us can honestly say we wish we had been more educated on mental illness, more prepared to help Scott, what if…what if.
Unfortunately the demon called mental illness won and took Scott on a 6 year downward spiral that not only hurt himself, but especially his family, emotionally and financially. We lost Scott 6 years ago in spirit and recently in reality when Scott was found unresponsive in a halfway house on 9/20/2022. Chad and I choose to believe he is now in heaven and all his demons are gone. That brings me peace for my friend Scott but unfortunately Amber and his 3 sons do not have that peace. The actions of mental Illness have left Amber in a situation where she needs help with funeral costs, lawyer fees, and counseling for their family, not to mention prayers for healing and grief.
I ask for your help to support this amazing strong, resilient wife and 3 sons. I also share this to encourage you to keep your eyes out for your family and friends that may be suffering from mental Illness. It is real and the demons associate with it can take an amazing person and destroy them, impacting everyone around them.
Let’s love the Thompson family, remember Scott as the amazing man he was and keep vigilant and knowledgeable about mental illness.
Thank you!!
