UPDATE 2: We have just met with the funeral director to set up the arrangements for Tony. We will hold a service on Sunday, July 30th between 1 pm and 3 pm. The location is:

                          910 E. Silver Springs Blvd

                                             34470

As with everything else, there were some additional expenses that were unforeseen but necessary. For this reason, we are opening up the GoFundMe site once again. If you want to give, please feel free to do so. Thank you all in advance.

UPDATE 1: We want to thank everyone so far that has been able to help, and also for all of our family and friends for keeping us in their thoughts and prayers. We have reached our goal thanks to a wonderful organization hat has agreed to help cover the remaining cost of the funeral. Without an amazing community of family and friends, this process would have been quite different.

THANK YOU EVERYONE.

We will post announcements on our facebook pages to give more details on the funeral arrangements.

Thank you again,

The Angel Family.
Jonathan, Rosa, Lizette, Adela, Brianna, and Vanessa.

The journey of my son Tony can best be described as a continuous battle, one which has been fought with courage and tenacity ever since he was first diagnosed with an anaplastic ependymoma (Brain Cancer) at the age of 15 months. This ependymoma was twice removed and twice returned even more insidious than before. At each return, Tony's tenacity matched the insidious tumor. Although more surgeries and more invasive chemo and radiation therapies were used, Tony still managed to bring a smile to everyone's face and seemed to light up a room with his brilliant smile.

This last time, in June, Tony had his 6 month MRI. Results were heartwrenching as they showed that the tumor growth had indeed spread throughout his entire nervous system. Furthermore he was not reacting to either the radiation or chemo therapies that were being used and he became very lethargic and unable to sit up. Still, he persisted and kept smiling when he was awake as if to take his final stance.

Tony was rushed to the hospital on 7/13/17 and was admitted to the PICU at Shands Hospital in Gainseville. The doctor and the entire nursing staff went above and beyond to help Tony and our family. His fever spiked to 107 as one of the tumors was wrapped in the medulla of the brain and so he could not regulate his own body temperature - he was at this temperature for 2 hours. He was finally stabilized and moved to a hospice care and then he was ambulanced back to the hospital that same evening.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that on July 26th, Tony is finally at Peace and is resting in the hands of God at the age of 7 years old. His mother Rosa, along with his sisters Brianna, Vanessa, Adella, and Lyzette will continue to carry him in our hearts.

As we finalize the funeral arrangements, we are asking for help to assist us in covering the cost of his funeral service and cremation ceremony. It has been a long and costly journey and any amount that helps us reach our goal will be greatly appreciated.

Please continue to keep our family in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate our new path moving forward without Tony helping light the way.
