For the those of you that did not know Leidy or know her medical history. Leidy had kidney failure for a long time. She was diagnosed at the age of 17 years old. She remained on dialysis for a couple of years until she got a call from transplant letting her know she had a donor for a kidney. She was pretty stable & healthy for those years. Two years after she was having complications with her new kidney & it began to reject so she had to get the kidney removed. That meant she had to go back on dialysis to filter her blood once again.
2017 was a very tough year for Leidy she had a lot of difficult things happen but she never let her condition get her down. She’s always been a feisty, strong willed woman, tough as nails & always happy. Happy that she got to do a treatment that basically helped her live. She had moments where she would wonder “why me?”
“why does this have to be my life?” My answer to that would be that God gave the biggest battles to his strongest soldiers. And that she was, a SOLDIER.
On October 19, 2018 Leidy was suffering a lot of pains. She came into the ER with symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea & pelvic pains. On the 20th she went into cardiac arrest & they resuscitated her 3x because her heart kept stopping. During this time her brain went without oxygen for an hour & a half. Because of that they put her body in a induced coma & she was supposed to wake up 3 days later. When it was time to wake up. She did not respond as she normally would, she stood in the coma & didn’t respond to commands from the medical staff. They did all they could & try to keep her as comfortable as possible. But today November 26, 2018 at 1:36 Pm her heart gave out, she couldn’t keep fighting & now we gained another angel in heaven.
It breaks my heart to have to write this because today I lost an amazing sister, a best friend, a partner in crime, my body guard, my diary, my confidant. My sister had so much love for life. She never let anything ruin her. She would fall & get back up like nothing, she didn’t let it phase her & for that she will always be my warrior princess .
