Funeral Assistance for Mrs Mooney (Metta's Momma)

Donation protected
Phyllis E. Mooney was a beloved Mother, Grandma, friend, Volunteer, and advocate of her Community. She was a bright light to all that met her and we celebrate the memories and laughs we all shared with her on this earth.

Although we cannot take away the pain of the loss of Metta's Momma, in loving memory of the life she lived we are hoping to alleviate some of the financial stress of her family.

Please consider, alongside your prayers, giving financially to help cover the expense of the funeral.

We encourage you to take a moment and read her tribute . . .

Phyllis Mooney, although blessed with two children, Metta and her brother Gilbert Ira Mooney (deceased), she was loved by thousands. It was not her destiny to bear natural children, but this woman warrior raised two through adoption, dozens by foster care, and then thousands as she Volunteered countless hours a day helping the Teachers of Walker Elementary with their daily needs. The school didn't know her as Phyllis the faithful volunteer, the children knew her as "Grandma" and she adopted them all.

This woman gave fiercely of her time to helping others. No idle hands was her belief and she lived what she believed and she loved God without limitations.

Her entire life was a testimony to who she was and it is a life worth celebrating. She was loved by all with reason. She owned a modest local grocery store in Shephard, Texas, and never said no to a hungry family. If she had food on the shelves and a family had no money, they had food and she was left with a dozen little boxes of IOUs that she knew would never be fulfilled. She didn't care because she gave from her heart and God always made it work. Metta keeps a box of those IOUs to this day as a testimony of what to do and who we are suppose to be. An example her Momma set forth for her since birth.

Ohhhhh the hundreds of thousand of stitches she knitted into blankets, hats, and soft books for the Children of MDA. The hundreds she comforted volunteering her time on the hospital ward, reading to patients, ministering her Motherly warmth.

And still thousands more children as a local CFISD school as a matriarch volunteer.

This beacon in the night that would see a child show up for school without a jacket and that child would have a jacket and new shoes the next day . . . This is who she was and if she wasn't shedding her light and life on others, then she was not at her best.

She loved her Lord and she loved her church and she loved her St Peters United Methodist Church Choir family. When she wasn't giving to her Community, she was giving to her church. Her voice was her ministry and she was blessed to minister for 94 years. She volunteered a lifetime and her talent as the Pianist at Shephard Methodist Church. And a second lifetime as the oldest Soprano in the St Peters Choir. A friend to all, but beloved by the Choir Director, David, a faithful friend to the absolute end.

To capture all this woman has accomplished in life would fill pages. The one thing everyone knew of Phyllis E. Mooney was that she was a friend to all and always considered herself last. Praise you God for her light shines bright and she served you faithfully, brilliantly, and without question. Your daughter is home and we thank you for her journey here on earth. It was a glorious one forevermore.
