Funeral Arrangements for 20w old Stillborn Baby
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Alysha and I am fundraising for my older sister Jess who, with her partner Ian are going through one of the hardest things that any parent will ever have to face.
Jess's unborn baby (currently 21w gestation) was diagnosed with a condition called Duodenal Atresia at 15w old. This is a stomach/bowl obstruction that would have resulted in surgery to repair at 2 days old after birth.
While this news was devistating, doctors were okay with proceeding with the birth and organising necessary after care.
Last week at her 20w scan, further complications were found. The baby had a second condition called CHAOS (Congenital High Airway Obstruction Sequence). Unfortunatly this is a much more serious condition with a very low survival rate, and in conjunction with having DA this made the odds almost impossible for the pregnancy to continue.
After advice from specialists, further scans and tests and some very difficult conversations, the decision had to be made to end the pregnancy - Jess has lost her baby.
Due to the babies gestation, she needs to go to hospital this coming Monday 29/05 and physically still give birth which is absolutely heartbreaking. She then must name him and organise a funeral service which is a very unexpected cost in such a short and traumatic time.
I am hoping to raise some funds to be able to cover the funeral costs for Jess, Ian and my little angel nephew just to take away even a little bit of the stress and burden regarding costs at this time.
The turn around time from procedure to funeral is quite quick, which is why I am creating this page and seeing if there is anything I can do in preperation for this upcoming life event.
Anything at all that you can spare would be so deeply appreciated.
Jess is always so strong, doing everything she can for everyone around her and I would love if we could find a way to repay her in her biggest time of need.
