Kate’s legal battle after her Dad’s recent passing
Donation protected
*****UPDATE 2/24/24*****
It seems as things have taken a drastic turn and the Uhle family has not been able to grieve properly. Unknown to Kate, her father was hospitalized and suffered from pneumonia 2 weeks prior to passing, on top of underlying health conditions, and passed away 24 hours after being released from the hospital. During this time period between $5,000-$6,000 worth of transactions were made and withdrew from his checking account by an individual outside of their family they had never met. His car title was also transferred outside of the family. Kate is heartbroken this happened to her Dad and is seeking legal action from afar to make sure this never happens again.
On January 26, 2024, Kate Heinz’s father passed away unexpectedly. To the best of her knowledge there is no will, no life insurance, and unfortunately until she physically goes to his bank in Indiana, with a death certificate, she has no idea if he has any savings put aside to help with the daunting costs related to his funeral arrangements, debts, and travel that Kate will have to navigate. There is the chance for a small reimbursement for cremation costs, as her father was a veteran, but again, at this time the answer remains unknown.
Despite a somewhat rocky relationship with her dad, Kate feels it’s her duty as his only daughter to make sure his remains are laid to rest next to her mothers’.
Funds requested will go towards:
- Cremation, transportation to Virginia, and burial costs, where he has a plot next to her late mother
- Airfare and rental car to Chicago, IL, where her father was living at the time of death
- Potential payment of rent on his apartment so she has time to pack and organize
- Apartment clean out and transportation of family possessions back to CA
- Close out any unknown debts
- Time off of work to travel
To know Kate is to know her generous spirit, her independence, and her incredible talent to fundraise for anyone and any cause. I’m confident those near and far will find the ability to help her through this very difficult and stressful time.
