On May 9, 2022, Arturo Cayabyab Soriano tragically passed away at the age of 81. He leaves behind his only daughter and loving friends and family members who span from Alameda, California in the United States to Dagupan City, Pangasinan in the Philippines.

 

As a father, Arturo is fondly remembered to be as funny, smart, and sweet. He was loved by his family and his passing is especially painful.

 

In 2019, Arturo moved back to the Philippines as his health was declining. With the COVID-19 pandemic happening and travel restrictions in the Philippines, Arturo’s passing is especially hard because his daughter in the United States has not been able to see him in person since his move.

 

Funds will go towards the funeral service and proper burial in the Philippines, a memorial service in the United States, as well as airfare and hotel costs for Arturo’s daughter and his daughter’s mother to travel to the Philippines to attend the funeral and see his body one last time. Because the airline tickets need to be booked this weekend, the tickets are expensive (no layover is $3k+). They will be traveling during the Philippine elections, while there may also be social unrest in the country, and getting to Pangasinan may be challenging.
